Lovely cottage, but has some snagging issues
Positive: This is a charming little cottage with lots of space. The garden was an unexpected added perk.
Pros:
Washing machine included (there is a tumble dryer but we couldn't get it to work).
Shower pressure is excellent.
Good location for if you don't mind travelling to explore - we went to Sandringham (approx 1hr), Framlingham (approx 1hr) and Thetford Forest (20-30mins) from here
Lounge is nice and comfortable
Some supplies were already there, such as dishwasher tabs and cloths, which was helpful
There's a very thoughtful book on local places that the host has put together
Negative: We hit a few snags. The first was finding the cottage, as we were told it was Hockham Cottage, but I think it's actually called Old School Cottage. The front door is off of someone else's driveway. We would never have found it if we hadn't called the host.
There's no parking. You need to find somewhere on the road or in the village to park.
The cold water in the kitchen is temperamental and doesn't work at all if someone's in the shower.
One of the bedrooms upstairs has a broken blind, which doesn't fully close. It provided privacy, but didn't stop any light at all coming in.
The bedrooms upstairs are joined by a door, which worked for us with a small child, but could be an issue depending on who you're travelling with.
The stairs are very steep, and coupled with low door frames meant they were challenging at times. Might be difficult for people who struggle with their joints/back. I definitely wouldn't recommend for very young children who like to explore stairs by themselves, as there's definitely room to fall through one of the bannisters.
Water tends to pool on the floor when you shower. There's only four bath towels and one hand towel provided, and no mop, so we didn't have anything to tidy with and kept getting out feet wet every time we used the bathroom.
Big tip on the shower: the taps to control temperature don't need to be turned on much and they turn in opposite directions. I turned both clockwise to finish my first shower, turning the cold off and hot on full, which scolded my skin. If you can, run the water through the bath tap to start and end the shower so you don't have the same fate.
The property's generally very clean, but there were quite a few cobwebs and some of the crockery wasn't fully clean from the dishwasher.
Also good to know: both beds are size double and low to the floor.
